Advocacy and the Vulnerable Training
The Advocacy and the Vulnerable Training was developed in conjunction with the Bar to help solicitor advocates and barristers strike the balance between advancing their client’s case effectively in court whilst ensuring vulnerable witnesses are not subjected to undue stress.
We anticipate that the Ministry of Justice will make this training compulsory for all publicly-funded advocates before they can act in serious sexual offences cases.
The training involves three sequential steps which must be completed in order:
1) An online course (minimum study length, eight hours)
We suggest you leave three weeks between starting the online training and attending the face-to-face training
2) Face-to-face training (approximately three hours)
3) A period of reflection on the learning via online exemplar films and consolidation (approximately one hour)
